In episode three of the Jersey Boys Podcast, we spend a large amount of time talking about a very 21st Century topic: Shaming. It happens a lot in all forms, and I'm sure we have ourselves been guilty of it in our lesser well-rounded years. To err is to be human, after all. However, to be on a popular radio show and presumingly educated enough to understand the things you say on the radio have more power, then to err in this instance is to be a fucking idiot.
Our main discussion point on this weeks episode centres around this little bit of radio here:
Look, we're not attacking the man as a whole here. He's a family bloke, all that stuff - but it doesn't mean we can't take issue with outrageously archaic attitudes. Let's be clear - I don't like a lot of what the bloke says on radio and, quite frankly, think that his voice/opinions being one of the main drive options in Adelaide is problematic. Whether it be the racism apologist stuff from a few months back re: Taylor Walker, or this stuff about policing the things that make people happy, it's just weird and sad that a proud sports city like Adelaide can't do better. Also, the latter half of this clip is straight up sexist - there's no other way to put it.
Has provided the meat of our content on this episode though, so swings and roundabouts. Have a listen to the episode to hear what we think more in depth.

We ended the episode with what will be a regular feature of the show: Hottest 🔥 and Coldest 🥶 Kits of the week. It's a chance for us to highlight some of the best and worst in sports each week through the prism of our love of kits!
The first 🔥 kit of the week is already a Jersey Boys HoF member at this point, featuring heavily in our early episodes - Steph Curry once again in the 75th Anniversary Classic Warriors strip. It's not enough that the jersey itself is straight fire, the squad just looking absolutely elite on the floor - but on top of that, Steph might be in some of the best form of his career. Dropping a 50 point double-double (close to a trip-dub) he has led the Warriors to a 9-1 record at time of recording, all with Klay Thompson still waiting in the wings to bring back the Splash Brothers show. If Klay can come back and they can conjure some of that old magic, they could be a duel 🔥 kit threat going forward. The floor looks great to accompany the kits as well!
Also, his swag level is so high the dude is counting his shots before they go in - and I mean, why would you question the bloke? ELITE.
The second 🔥 kit of the week is not so much a kit... but pageantry. Yes, this is a Shea pick, and as always he just knows how to find a kit matchup that is steeped in mystique, a rivalry clash under the glow of the Saturday Night Lights in Bryant-Denny Stadium , the premium of premium matchups: Alabama vs LSU. This year provided an intriguing if flawed matchup, as an LSU side not quite at the level of previous years still provided a stern test to an Alabama squad that sits in the Top-4, but maybe not quite as feared as previous years.
They fuckin' looked good regardless of the storylines.
The third 🔥 kit of the week, getting some hockey content in - The Anaheim Ducks with their Mighty Ducks Alternate. The Ducks have not been too good for a few years, but at time of recording had rattled of 5 wins on the trot to be one of the form teams in the early season running. It has been an interesting 21st Century for the Ducks, with the sale from Disney in 2005 resulting in a change up from the popular jerseys known from the Mighty Ducks movies, to a more plain look. A fair bit of adjustment over the past 10 years and an acceptance of using some of the Disney history again, the Ducks have a good lineup fusing the old with the new.
The third alternate sports the popular Mighty Ducks logo front and centre, with a predominant orange colour (Orange County) being a bright and bold move - it works for David, but can be divisive. However with that logo, it wins. With the squad making it look good again, might be time for collectors to look into it. Troy Terry might look good on the back of that thing!
Now... COLDEST 🥶 KITS.
Number one on our 🥶 kits? Look no further than a half empty Husky Stadium in Seattle, where a team led by the bloke giving this speech in January of 2020 is proving to be just one giant dumpster fire.
Not even close to the end of the 2021 season, his predictions of domination are in the dirt - buried beneath a heap of insane press conferences, sideline controversies, and - most importantly relating to his actual job - woeful football and recruiting. Unrepentant hubris to the end, there's no sympathy for the bloke here. Insulting our alma mater in an academic sense in rivalry week was bad enough, insulting all of our intelligence when trying to say this incident was just "separating players" was just plain stupid, and seemingly the last straw.
It isn't the worst incident you'll ever see, but when you already have the entire football world waiting for another mistake, that last straw - you'd think some of that academic prowess might come into play in a touch more tact than was displayed here.
Look, Washington don't have terrible kits. They're a classic college footy look. But when you're only one possession down against your arch rival, and you choose to do this - your kits go into the very bottom of any power rankings, just like Husky recruiting.
Our other 🥶 kit of the week... Aaron Rodgers & the Green Bay Packers #12.
We won't shy away from sharing our personal opinions - it's a podcast, what else are we gonna do? COVID has certainly provided a window into the divide that exists within humanity, and the nuance as to how we discuss personal freedoms and decisions as they relate to affecting others.
Aaron Rodgers is free to believe what he wants. He's free to make his own personal decisions. However, as someone benefiting from his fame and fortune as an MVP of the NFL, an all time great, making millions upon millions as well as being a cultural figurehead within our advertising and pop culture - there is a responsibility that comes with it. Uncle Ben's words to Peter Parker were not just for him.
So going on Pat McAfee's show and running through the Anti-Vaxxer's Greatest Hits album like a two-bit KISS tribute band just doesn't cut it with us. Claiming he has done his research whilst simultaneously stating he has just taken the advice of "good friend" Joe Rogan makes about as much sense as Olivia Munn once being on his arm did.
Some might find this a plus for him, so go well in your life and health. We sincerely hope you survive your decision making.
Also, non-COVID related - shouting "I still own you!" at Bears fans, a fanbase suffering through so much inept management for the past decade that beating them consistently is not anything to gloat about, is just another reason his kit is here. That's like flexing after dunking on a primary school hoop.
