A long and rambling pod today, babe. But a fun one, everything from hot kits & the WNBA being fuckwits, to the aesthetics of the live sports experience.
Also, if you want to know about the 'babe' thing - obviously listen to the pod.
This podcast was a lot about the aesthetics we love in sporting stadiums, particularly baseball and the romance of the game as it was (at the time of recording) still in a lockout. The two stadiums in particular we love, are Coors Field in Denver and of course, the great Wrigley Field (& Wrigleyville) in Chicago.
We highly recommend listening, of course, for our full discussion. However we do also mention the future of stadium design in making sure to be a part of the city (as opposed to finding vacant land far away from the city) - in particular the designs and plans possible for a future Major League club in Portland, Oregon. See below.
I would absolutely LOVE to sink a froff or 10 here.
HOT KITS
Solidarity with the New York Liberty, doing the right thing by their players. WNBA? Do better.
Vale, Shane Warne. A forever hot kit for one of the greatest to ever play the game of cricket. Top 5 of the 20th Century. The king of spin. Transcended sports. Gave Jordan a footy.
James Harden at Philly. Who would have thought David would pop him up there? He looks good in that Philly City jersey though, and looks like a ball player again.
And to wrap it up, Shea gives us a duel HOT & COLD kit, with his hot kits coming in the form of the Lakers kit from the 70s/80s being showcased on the new HBO production 'Winning Time' - but the cold kit being the current kit being absolutely shitstomped every game day.
